Thailand is a country in Southern Asia. The countries name used to be Saim until it was changed in the 1930;s. Thailand means the land of the free. Since the location of Thailand is near the large countries of India and China, those countries have highly rubbed off on the Thai culture. The first state of Siam was the Kingdon of Sukhothai, a kingdom full of Buddhist inhabitaints, settled in 1238ad. Snd ever since then it has been controlled by the Ayyuttahaya (1350-1767), Thonburl (1767-1782), and Ratanakosin (1782- until now)
Here are basic facts about Thailand: the capital is Bangkok, which is also the largest city. The official language is Thai. The government consists of the King Bhumilbol Adulyadej, then Prime minster, General of the army Surayud Chulanont, and the President of the council of National Sercurity Sonthi Boonyaratglin. the total area of Thiland is 198,115sq. miles. The area of water is 0.4% of the whole world.
The density of the land is 326/sq miles. The currency of the land is Baht. Also Thailand is the only country in the Sounthern part of Asia that has never been colonized bu European powers. The main religon in Thialand is Buddhism. it is the size of Califonia, and roughly the same size of Spain.
The climate of Thialand called monsoons. The temperture are mostly rainy, warm and cloudy. The north of Thiland is very mountaious with the peak of the elevation Doi Inthanon at 2,576 meters. it also consist of the flat Chao Pharaya river valley which empties out into the Gulf of Thailand/ The south has the Kra isthmus and then turns into Malay Penisula. The Kra Isthmus is very hot and humid.
The economy of Thailand is very good. It trades 105 billion dollars worth of stuff every year. It mainly trades rice, textiles and footwear, fishery products, rubber, jewlary, automobiles, comouters and also applances using electrcity. Thialand in the number one rice trader in the world, trading 6.5 billion tons of rice a year. 55% of the world land is used in the production of rice. But also much of the land os arable land meaning that is good to use for crops. Tin, rubber, natural gas, tungsten, tantalum, timber, lead, fish, gumpsum, lignite. fluofite, and arable land are Thialand's main resources.
